CPR should be done on an infant who has the following symptoms:
Heartsaver CPR and AED – The Heartsaver CPR and AED Course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. The course also provides a complete health and safety training solution for choking, adult, child, and Infant CPR, and AED.
AGES 9 & UP
No pulse
Unconsciousness
CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a lifesaving procedure that is done when someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. It involves:
Chest compressions to keep blood flowing, and
Rescue breathing to provide oxygen to the lungs.
One must continue these procedures until the infant’s heartbeat and breathing return, or trained medical help arrives, to prevent permanent brain damage or death which can occur within minutes if blood flow stops.
CPR can be lifesaving, but it is best done by someone trained in an accredited CPR course. All parents and people who take care of children should learn Infant and Child CPR.
